The SeaDragons Swimming Club made waves at the prestige’s Burgdorff Invitational held annually, at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center in Rutgers University. Each January some of the finest Olympic and future Olympic hopefuls in the United States compete in the only New Jersey Olympic distance invitational of the winter swim season.
This year leading the charge for the SeaDragons was Patrick Rathbun of Long Valley, with an incredible 3 gold medal performance in the 100, 200, and 400 freestyle, joining Christopher Giovine, last years 100 meter breaststroke champion, as the first two SeaDragons to win these coveted titles.
The SeaDragons were also represented with powerful performance by Carly Antonucci, Herman Chu, Danielle Ferrera, Casey Fitzgerald, Heather Flimlin, Laura Flynn, Melissa Flynn, Katie Giovine, Joey Giovine, Catie Kastning, Zach Perez, Claudia Piacente, Matthew Rathbun, Megan Rathbun, Brian Stobbe, Kara Walbaum, and Kyle Williams.
The SeaDragons continue there season preparing for the upcoming Junior Olympic championship, also held at Rutgers, with over 30 swimmers qualifying thus far, and several others in reach of making the time standard for entry.
