SeaDragons Head to Zone Championships

The SeaDragons Swimming Club has placed 12 swimmers on the New Jersey All Star Zone Team competing this August 11th-15th at the Lake Erie Community College in Buffalo, New York.

Leading the team for the SeaDragons is Aubrey Vinh, a triple medalist, and Matthew Rathbun, a double medalist, at this past summers New Jersey Junior Olympic Championships. Vinh from Mansfield and Rathbun from Long Valley will show case their breaststroke skills in the 50,100, and 200 meter distances against 12 other All Star State teams.

Also representing New Jersey, from Long Valley, are Patrick Rathbun, making his 4th team, Megan Rathbun in the 100 free, Kara Walbaum, who will provide strength in the backstroke events, and Jenelle Zee in the breaststroke. Both Walbaum and Zee, who together medaled at the Junior Olympics, will combine with New Jersey’s most powerful swimmers in the Eastern Zone Championships held each season.

Lino Jacinto of Newton, Victoria Tanczos of Independence, Carly Antonucci and Levi Schmidt also from Mansfield will help add depth to one of the most powerful New Jersey teams assembled.

Joey and Katie Giovine of Long Valley will be joining the New Jersey squad in the Eastern Zone Open Water Championships, where each swimmer will navigate a one mile course in the open waters of Lake Erie.

This past June both Giovine’s were also finalist at the International Age Group Invitational held at the Hall of Fame Swimming Pool in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

The SeaDragon Swimming Club comprised of swimmers throughout the area has been developed out of Centenary College in Hackettstown, where a combination of technique, up-to-date training methods and enjoyment are combined to bring out the talents in every swimmer.

"The success of our program is attributed to the dedication of our coaching staff and the strong community commitment of Centenary College." stated Bill Giovine head swim coach. The SeaDragons begin their 5th season this September.
