Treasure Chest Recap - Feb. 2008
Treasure Chest Recap - Feb. 2008
Getting the meet off to a fantastic start was our very own 8 yr old Hunter Klingener with a super fast 36.99 in the 50 free which took 3rd. Hunter then raced his way to a 1st place finish in 25 back with 20.82, a 2nd place finish in the 100 IM (taking 10 seconds off with a 1:42.25), and 2 -5th place finishes in the 25 and 50 breast. Impressive!
Also having a big day was 8 yr old Emily Peter. Emily sped to 3 -4th place finishes in the 25 free in 16.47 seconds, 25 back in 20.87 and the 100 IM breaking 1:40 for the 1st time ever with a 1:39.70. Emily also took 5th in the 50 back with a super fast 46.19 and 9th in the 50 free. Wooo hoooo!
Leading the way with Rosettes was 6 year old Sydney Slepian. Sydney streamlined her way to 3 1st place finishes and set 3 new meet records as well in the 25 back 22.65, 50 back 51.66 and the 25 breast 25.74. Sydney also took 2 2nds in the 100 IM and 25 fly. She was excited to see her name holding 3 meet records from last year in the 5 and under age held strong, but this meet really is all about the treasure chest loot!!!
Also having a great meet was 7 year old Eliza Grigsby. Eliza took home 4 beautiful Rosette ribbons! She sped her way with 2nds in 50 free with a super fast 43.99 and 50 breast 1:05.35. She also raced to 3rd place finishes in 25 breast and the 25 free. Will she break 20 seconds next time? I think so! Coming home with all best times was our youngest swimmer, 6 year old Michael Rizzo. Michael took 2nd in 50 free 1:05.04, a 3rd in the 25 back 28.61 and 2 4th places in the 25 free and 25 breast. Michael has been working super hard on his breaststroke in practice and it showed! Great job Michael!
Michael’s big sister 8 yr old Nikki helped her team out with 2 –5th place finishes in the 50 fly and 50 breast, 6th in 50 back, 7th in 50 free and 11th in 100 IM. Nikki was crucial in the girls 4th place relay finish also!
Then we have 8 year old Michael Maurizio who raced his way to best times all day. Mikey took 3rd in the 50 back with a super fast 50.54, a 5th in the 25 back, 7th in the 50 breast and 9th in the 25 breast. Fantastic work!
Also having a good day was little 7 year old Ellie Locasio. After a deep start I reminded her that we did not have to dive for our treasure, we just had to swim fast--- so she did! Ellie shaved seconds off her 4th place 25 back and her 8th place 25 free times… as well as took a 3rd place Rosette in the 50 back 1:05.70 and 5th in the 50 free.
Also cleaning up with best times and lots of treasure chest loot were 8 year old Victoria Kunesch, Caitlin Searra and newest team mate Maddie Kowalewski. Victoria comes home with 4 ribbons- 11th in 50 back, 17th in 50 free, 20th in 25 back and 22nd in 25 breast. Great job! Caitlin “two hand touch” comes home with 4 ribbons as well – 12th in 50 back, 21st in 50 free, 23rd in 25 “two hands” breast J, and 24th in 25 back. Super! And rounding out our day was Maddie with 13th in 50 back and 14th in 50 free with a fast 46.84. Great work girls!!!
Our day ended with all 8 girls getting to swim one of the 100 yd free relays. They loved it. I cannot wait until mini champs as all our Seadragon minis look great and with a couple weeks left I know they are ready!
